Together with Pachypodium namaquanum, the species are the rarest in mainland African. It is a tall plant reaching 6 m high and more, with a swollen trunk and thin silver grey branches. Stipular spines by 2, deciduous ovate leaves with hairy and wavy margins.
Beautiful white 5 petal flower with a narrow tube.
Very slow growth.
